A Word from Senior Pastors,
Gary & Joy Duckworth
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has
conceived what God has prepared for those who love
him, but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.”
1 Corinthians 2:9,10
Seeking "The Fullness"
In this life, The Church of Jesus Christ is not yet experiencing all God has provided
through His death and resurrection. Sensing a
God-given dissatisfaction with the
“current status,” we strive, through worship, fellowship, and
in-depth bible study, to go deeper and experience a
richer understanding of God’s word. His word, we
believe, has the life-changing power we crave to
make us better husbands, wives, parents, teenagers,
children -- in short, better people.
While the study of God's word is critical, we can
also, unfortunately, gain a knowledge of God’s
precepts that exceeds our obedience to them.
Therefore, here at GC, we are determined to “get
after” closing the gap between knowledge and
obedience; religion and relationship; God’s promises
and the believer’s experience.
Fighting for Our Children
Allowing surrounding culture (rather than God's
word) to dictate our lifestyle, we choose a hard and
potentially painful path -- risking severe losses to
our marriages and our children’s spiritual health.
Jesus said, “My yoke is easy and my burden is
light," conversely, the bible warns, “The way
of the transgressor is hard.”
One of the most sobering curses found in Old
Testament scripture,
warns of being robbed of our children (Leviticus:
26: 21
& 22). In fact, 78%
of today’s church-going high school students quit
attending church after graduation. Sadly, this is
the “report card” of the American church.
At GC, we are
determined to crush this destructive curse
plaguing The Church (and our precious children) for decades.
Family First
Joy and I, along
with our three,
God-loving kids: Nicole, Isaiah, and Garrison,
work
closely with families and individuals from all
walks of life. We love it. It
is our family passion and God-given ministry. Inspired by the biblical teaching that
children can be trained in the way they should
go; we desire that our family be a blessing to
yours and yours to ours. Generations United!
The Old Testament ends with this promise, “He will
turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and
the hearts of the children to the fathers.” Then,
nearly 400 years later, the New Testament opens with the same message...
clearly, this is the heart of God!
Remaining "Real"
Jesus has returned to His Father, sending us His
Spirit that we
might know “The Fullness” He intended. However,
while it is
our mandate to settle for nothing less than a
victorious church, we desire to grow “super” -->
“naturally” (not a hyped-up, showy “supernatural”). Not
needing to be something we are not.
Steering
clear of religiosity and pretension, we strive to “keep it real”
before God and one another -- real
people, pursuing a genuine relationship with a
loving God!
We will not be satisfied until we know the abundant
life he promised -- until we are walking fully in
the love, acceptance, forgiveness, empowerment, and
truth that sets us free!
In God's love,
